چکیده

We describe the synthesis of a diphenylglycoluril/dibenzo-crown-6 molecular chalice, the self-assembly at the air/water interface and its complexation properties in solution and at the water/chloroform interface.

The effect of hydrophobic and hydrophilic channel walls on the structure and diffusion of water and ions

Molecular dynamics simulations are carried out to determine the effects of channel wall structure on water and ion properties. We compare hydrophobic ~Lennard-Jones 5-3 and atomic! and molecular-hydrophilic cylindrical pores of 2–6 Å in effective radius, relevant to the study of most significant biological ion channels including gramicidin A, ACh, and potassium channels, and to the study of man...

Correction: Self-assembly of Janus nanoparticles with a hydrophobic hemisphere in nanotubes.

We performed molecular simulations to investigate the morphologies and phase diagrams of self-assembled diblock Janus nanoparticles (JNPs) confined in nanotubes. A JNP is a unique anisotropic nanoparticle, which typically has more than two distinct surfaces, each with different properties. We derived qualitative phase diagrams of axial pressure versus the ratio of the diameter of the nanopartic...

Polymeric self-assembly into micelles and hollow spheres with multiscale cavities driven by inclusion complexation.

The inclusion complexation between beta-CD (beta-cyclodextrin) and adamantyl group (ADA) is used as a driving force in constructing polymeric micelles. The micelles composed of a hydrophobic core of PtBA-ADA and a hydrophilic shell of PGMA-CD show unique properties due to the presence of beta-CDs on the micellar surface. The micelles can be converted to hollow spheres of PGMA-CD networks. The h...

Self-assembly and properties of diblock copolymers by coarse-grain molecular dynamics.

Block-copolymer amphiphiles have been observed to assemble into vesicles and other morphologies long known for lipids but with remarkably different properties. Coarse-grain molecular dynamics (CG-MD) is used herein to elaborate the structures and properties of diblock copolymer assemblies in water. By varying the hydrophilic/hydrophobic ratio of the copolymer in line with experiment, bilayer, c...

Micelle and Bilayer Formation of Amphiphilic Janus Particles in a Slit-Pore

We employ molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the self-assembly of amphiphilic Janus particles in a slit-pore consisting of two plane-parallel, soft walls. The Janus particles are modeled as soft spheres with an embedded unit vector pointing from the hydrophobic to the hydrophilic hemisphere. The structure formation is analyzed via cluster size distributions, density and polarization ...
